Studio Red works with clients from the identification of needs through project completion—a quality media that effectively communicates the clients message. The design process at Studio Red follows the design mantra: form follows function.

FUNCTION
Function is identified through open dialogue with the client-addressing practical and personal parameters-in order to understand the client's requirements. Practical questions posed to the client include the determination of the target audience, the what/how/who of communication, to the desired outcome of piece (what will the recipient do with the piece?). Who are the competitors and what are they doing? What quantities of this piece are needed? What is the budget for this project? How is the finished project going to be used and distributed?

More personal inquiries relate to the mood and sentiment the client would like to convey. What images and/or symbols do you want and/or not want to be associated with? Any favorite font, color or style? All of these questions are geared to discover and help determine how to distinguish oneself as different and unique in today's market (identify and accentuate your advantage). After discussing the most effective ways to reach the goal, Studio Red will form a design that meets those needs. Once the problem is defined, the design solution is created.

FORM
The development of form is in Studio Red's hands with further brainstorming and exploration of the information gleaned from the client. A wider perspective of the client's wants and overall aesthetics are taken into account. From key word association and concept generation, thumbnail sketches are created. Typography is researched to pinpoint a font that best expresses the mood of piece. Imagery—from line art illustration to color photography—is examined to find a visual solution that best supports and extends the piece's continuity and identity.

A composition is actualized by putting all of the pieces of typography and imagery together with considerations of form, scale, and color. A hierarchical system is developed for continuity and paced for clarity and interest. Depending on the project, one or a multiple of pdf options will be presented for client review. Based on further dialogue and client feedback, proofs will be revised and finalized. Once direction and content are concrete, the piece is refined and the subtleties of form and fine typography are perfected: a design that is aesthetically-pleasing as well as accessible and well-structured.

Once the design is fully implemented, the piece is prepared for press and the project is managed throughout the printing process to maintain quality control. Thus, Studio Red is able to deliver to the client a quality design experience in addition to a thoughtful final printed piece.
